Background
Azadi Community is a value-based, survivor-led organization that focuses on the provision of long-term support for survivors of trafficking who, too often, find a lack of community support and understanding when re-integrating into society, ensuring their experience with trafficking. We run several programs that enhance the agency of survivors of trafficking, support recovery from trauma, and sustain their reintegration into society.
We are doing this through the operation of a Resource Center where survivors receive vocational and soft skills training for empowerment, gain valuable skills, and give all they have to become leaders of their communities. Our programs also focus on aspects such as the mental health, leadership, and development of the survivors, giving them the tools they require to thrive.
Azadi is seeking a passionate and experienced Program Manager to lead initiatives that support rebuilding lives with dignity and independence. This role involves designing and overseeing programs that promote financial empowerment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods while advocating for systemic change in economic policies affecting survivors.
Essential requirements:

Degree in Social Sciences (Community development, social work or a related field) or relevant experience.

At least 2 years of experience in a similar role especial working with NGOs

Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate programs that promote economic empowerment and self-determination.

Clear understanding of economic rights, labor rights, financial inclusion, and social protection policies.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Alignment or clear understanding of feminist, human rights, and survivor-centered principles.

Ability to work with diverse communities with respect, humility, and sensitivity.
Deliverables
Azadi is seeking a Kenyan-based applicant to undertake this assignment.
The applicant is expected to deliver the following in the course of the assignment:-

Build partnerships with local businesses, government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations to create job opportunities and resources for members and support program objectives.

Collaborate with the outreach community to advocate for inclusive hiring practices and workplace accommodations for policies and systems that promote economic justice especially for the marginalized comunities

Update member engagements on the salesforce platform and generate reports for knowledge. Update individual profiles of survivor leaders on economic justice program engagements.

Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness, track progress, and identify areas for improvement to develop reports on program progress, outcomes and financial status

Design, implement, and oversee economic empowerment training tailored to the unique needs of the community members, including job readiness, digital literacy, financial literacy and financial planning, budgeting, negotiation skills, career development, entrepreneurship support, accessing resources such as housing, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities among many more.

Orient survivor leaders on the Economic justice and Self determination program when developing and implementing their individual support plans ( education/ employment / entrepreneurship) and collaborate with members to create personalized action plans to achieve their economic goals.

Develop and implement the program’s strategic plan that:

Promotes self-sufficiency and economic independence.

Is trauma-informed and survivor-centered, addresses systemic barriers to economic independence and other vital barriers like stereotype, prejudice, skill gaps, and economic instability.

Includes ways for networking and benchmarking.

Applies an intersectional approach to economic justice

Will develop for the Azadi community a social enterprise arm to serve both members and sustainability of the organization.

Oversees budgets, allocates resources effectively, and manages financial aspects of the program.

Moodle: Work with the team and trainers to ensure economic justice training curriculums and courses are created and uploaded on Azadi learning platform.

Provide mentorship to survivor leaders interested in learning about the program.

Identify funding opportunities to support the economic justice program.
Compensation
The selected candidate will be on a full time contract with a 3 month probation period on a base salary Ksh 70,000 per month.

Award criteria and Appointment
The appointment will be awarded to the best candidate chosen by the Azadi recruitment team, depending on a demonstrated understanding of the required needs and relevant experience.
